Elespee and Prospek
Quantumetaphysicadillac Music
(Guerilla Publishing Company)
Like OutKast’s flagship Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and Isaac Hayes’ soul odyssey “Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic” before it, Elespee and Prospek’s Quantumetaphysicadillac Music pushes musical boundaries and puts the urban landscape in perspective.
“Morality’s a luxury / Survival is a must,” Elespee raps over a woozy, nostalgic jazz-funk groove in the opening verse of “Milk & Honey,” a song that sizes up Social Darwinism and the state of the recording industry. The following number, “Michelle and Oprah,” offers a more graphic—though no less thought provoking—depiction: “Bitches ain’t shit except Michelle and Oprah / Niggas ain’t shit until you see them on a poster.”
Prospek, undeniably New Orleans’ most innovative beatmaker, brings out the best and sometimes the beast in his longtime partner. The streetwise, spaced-out sonics of “NOLAterrestrials,” rev up Elespee’s intergalactic Caddy as he cruises around the cosmos and the Crescent City. Midway, as Elespee and fellow N.O. emcee City Sparks trade metaphors, the soulful ride of “Manifest, Progress, Expand,” recalls College Dropout-era Kanye. Later, a gritty, driving funk track paves the way through the potent Jon Mercure-assisted “Music for All Occasions.”
With few hooks, Quantumetaphysicadillac Music delivers a heady, hypnotic dose of raw hip-hop that is as aurally intoxicating as it is mind opening. Elespee’s lyrical analogy from the hard-hitting rhyme fest “Golden Era” sums it up: “Welcome back to that feeling you got from Midnight Marauders / Blowing smoke at your ceiling in your room, dorm, or apartment when hip-hop was appealing / The essence of where it started ‘fore we all started dealing.”
Unlike its predecessors, this set will probably never surface on the mainstream radar. Be that as it may, Elespee and Prospek’s combustible chemistry is a force to be reckoned with on the underground scene.

just checking in...
i'm thirty now; but that doesn't weigh on me quite the way i thought it would. less writing, more doing has become the new theme of my life. i no longer find myself with the time or inclination to reflect. or plan for that matter. i've gone with it. i'm hurling through infinite space on a giant rock at thousands of mile per hour, with nothing but my own ignorance to hold me in my shoes. and now i can feel it. the uncertainty. the fear. the exhilaration. its the ride of a lifetime. time has begun to move faster though. of that i am certain. and i am still haunted by jeff telling me how quickly it all goes by. its all relative, and i've known sleep was the cousin of death for sometime. i do not fear it, but i still don't take naps either. i dreamed long enough. making those dreams manifest is far more entertaining. i want to remember now. now i feel like the sun itself. now i nourish and strengthen, destroy and create. but now is also a butterfly on the fingertips. it is there only a moment, and is easily unnoticed.

In Numerology, there are such things as Master Numbers that are noted, and these are the numbers 11 and 22. Essentially, the number 11 is a 2, but it is considered a higher vibration of the number 2.The 11 is also known as the psychics number, it's the most intuitive of all numbers and it represents illumination and deep insight. The 11 is also very sensitive, charismatic and inspirational.
The date of 11-11-11 is one of the most powerful shifts in human awareness that we will experience in our lifetime. It is a rare opportunity to release lifetimes of karmic scripting and ancestral entrapment. Entrapment in the sense of the conscious and unconscious habit patterns which have us wondering why we can’t seem to actualize the life we really want to have, and know is possible. 11-11-11 is the cosmic birth date of humanities prayer for liberation from the rote, mundane, and monotonous.
The idealist, in speaking of events, sees them as spirits. He does not deny the sensuous fact: by no means; but he will not see that alone. He does not deny the presence of this table, this chair, and the walls of this room, but he looks at these things as the reverse side of the tapestry, as the other end, each being a sequel or completion of a spiritual fact which nearly concerns him. This manner of looking at things, transfers every object in nature from an independent and anomalous position without there, into the consciousness. Even the materialist Condillac, perhaps the most logical expounder of materialism, was constrained to say, "Though we should soar into the heavens, though we should sink into the abyss, we never go out of ourselves; it is always our own thought that we perceive." What more could an idealist say?

the road to jazz fest...
i'd rather be lucky than good; blessed than lucky. fortunately, i seem to be all three. last year i enjoyed jazz fest as a spectator. i watched juvenile on stage, and tried to imagine what it felt like to be in front of that many people. this year, i got to find out.4.17.2011

March 7th, New Orleans, LA.
Once each year thousands of tourist pour in to New Orleans by whatever means available to them, to witness or take part in Mardi Gras. If you check history deep enough, you'll find it was born out of a religious cause, but all that has been forgotten now, because Mardi Gras is a time of reckless abandonment, of merriment.
Into that abandonment slips one S. Habib, still dusting airplane peanuts off his jacket and looking for a light, and elespee eloheem, long time resident and fixture of the crawfish circuit. Together, they figure they can handle whatever this crazy town throws at them.
Vieux Carre. Sleepy by day, psychedelic by night. Some call it the birthplace of the blues, soul, and jazz, being nurtured on a street they call Bourbon, like one of the many drinks that can be had there if your pocket is filled with the right kind of coin. But these guys have a different kind of music in mind.
Produced (by NOLA underground hip hop producer of the year award winner Prospek, and Inner Recess's own Dubla) and recorded in the seven days surrounding Mardi Gras 2011, Se7en is a smooth cruise around the crooked streets of the Crescent City.
